What is Running therapy?

Running therapy is the use of a calm endurance run, during which you exercise at a moderately intensive level. Research shows positive results of exercising in depression, anxiety, addiction and chronic pain. In addition, exercising strengthens the body, provides relaxation and creates an overall improvement in mood. People who exercise regularly at a moderately intensive level show a considerable improvement in physical and mental health. The running therapy group is supervised by one of our psychologists, who is also trained as a running therapist. The added value of running therapy carried out by psychologists is the extra attention for the relationship between body and mind. 

For whom is the course suitable?

Running therapy is meant for people who suffer from (mild) symptoms, such as gloominess, fatigue and anxiety. Being in shape is not necessary for participation, eveeryone runs at a different speed.

Purpose of the training

The aim of running therapy is learning how to move in a relaxed, non-performance oriented way. During training we work with personal goals. 

When?

The course takes place every Wednesday evening from 18:00 till 19:30 hrs.

Deviating times or days will be communicates within the Running group. 

 

Location: We gather in the waiting room at our location Falckstraat 15-29.

 

The sessions take upto a maximum of 1,5 hours. It consists of a light warming up, running the training of your personalized schedule and will end with stretches and cooling down.

 

The Running therapy course is an on ongoing course, which means that you can step in at any time. You will not need to wait for the start of a new course.

Rates

The Running therapy course is only accessible when you are following psychological treatment at our practice. You can apply for Running therapie with your psychologist. Subsequently the Running therapist will contact you to schedule an intake session and assess whether Running therapy is suitable for your treatment. During the first training session we will establish your level on which your personal running schedule will be based.

In most cases, the costs are covered by your healthcare insurance.
